Meet Mrs. Cathy Turner.

As assistant to the associate dean, Mrs. Turner schedules classes, manages payroll, orders textbooks, handles scholarships, manages the dean’s office and many other things that help the Mayborn run smoothly and productively. She has been with Mayborn since January of 2007 and will celebrate 15 years at UNT next year.

She loves to support and help both faculty and students. In her words, "I raised 4 children and have 12 grandchildren so that has given me great practice for serving the Mayborn family."

She was once an aspiring journalist herself, but dedicated some time in her life towards her family. She now helps future journalists at Mayborn by tirelessly running the administration at the school of Journalism.

Since the pandemic, things have been very different at Sycamore Hall. Mrs. Turner, along with the rest of the faculty and staff is excited about getting back to the growing enrollment and programs that help our students after COVID-19.

She says that she is looking forward to working on getting the word out that the Mayborn has the most amazing faculty and students who will be the next generation of great communicators in our nation.

As UNT prepares to welcome staff and students back on to the campus, Mayborn is determined to produce bright and successful journalists who can carry on the North Texas pride with everything they do.

"I get excited thinking that we can have more alumni winning Pulitzer Prizes for their work in the future and making a difference with the skills they learned at the Mayborn." says Mrs. Turner.

Sycamore Hall is incomplete without Mrs. Turner's smiling face. Don't forget to say hello to her on your first day back on campus!
